By preparing for the visit 10 years old, in 1850 there was a garden. Because of financial problems Herberts Guinness family sold the house. But already in 1910, the castle had a rich American family Born. The castle was bought by William Bourne as a wedding gift to his daughter Maud. When Maud died prematurely in 1932, her husband and the family handed over the estate as a gift to Ireland.  Each year, the estate receives over 250,000 visitors.
